SDPB Gettysburg Address School/Group Project – Make History by Joining SDPB in this Unique Social Media Event and Receive FREE Educational Resources!

To celebrate the 150th anniversary of the Gettysburg Address, documentarian Ken Burns, along with numerous partners, has launched a national effort to encourage everyone in America to video record themselves reading or reciting Abraham Lincoln's famous speech. South Dakota Public Broadcasting is also encouraging the recording of school groups, afterschool groups, etc. (Elementary – HS aged children) reciting or reading the Gettysburg Address (creativity is encouraged). The project will take place now through April 10, 2014. We are looking for educators who are interested in having their class/group participate in this unique educational experience.
What you will receive for participating:

  • FREE DVD of THE ADDRESS (First 25 participants)
  • FREE copy of the book Lincoln at Gettysburg: The Words that Remade America (First 25 participants)

  • SDPB will highlight 3-5 video entries on SDPB TV!
    • o 3-5 schools/groups will be selected and highlighted on SDPB TV

How to Participate:

  • Record and upload a video of your class reciting/reading the Gettysburg Address (Upload at
    • o Creativity is encouraged (Including mashup, entire class at once, etc.)
    • o Please contact me if you have questions about recording or uploading your video

  • Email SDPB at once you have submitted your video to receive your FREE DVD and Book!

  • SDPB TV will select 3-5 schools/groups from the submissions and edit/record them for use on SDPB TV
